Photo of John GrantJohn grew up near Boston, in East Walpole, Massachusetts, the youngest child of Victor Edmund and Olga Louisa Maria Anderson Grant. Victor came from Nova Scotia to the Boston area to find work when he was a young man, and Olga was the daughter of immigrants from Sweden. They had a strong work ethic and valued higher education, qualities they instilled in their five children.

As a 1969 graduate of Boston’s Northeastern University with a degree in Chemical Engineering, John was recruited by E.I. DuPont Company in Clinton, Iowa. After he relocated to the Chicago area, he and Jane Peel married and had two children. For 12 years he was a recruiter of high-tech management engineers and scientists.

During the remainder of his career John enjoyed the freedom of managing multi-state territories for manufacturers of technical equipment. John was known for his high standard of excellence, his loyalty and independence, qualities also shared by his sons, Peter and Dan. He was a devoted supporter of his church and actively served this spiritual community for over 50 years.

John is survived by LaQuita his wife of 33 years, son Peter & wife Jen of Arizona, son Dan & wife Sara, beloved grandchildren Ava and Andrew, of Wisconsin, brother Richard, sister Diana & husband Dick Lassen of Massachusetts, sister Virginia & husband Dick Stentz of St. Louis and 8 nieces and nephews. John’s parents and his brother Don predeceased him.
